Teaching Philosophy

I believe every student learns differently, and I strive to create a lesson environment that is supportive, challenging, and encouraging. My goal is to help students build a strong technical foundation while also developing confidence, musical curiosity, and an expressive personal voice.

In lessons, I emphasize posture and setup, tone production, intonation, rhythm, and efficient practice habits. I want students not only to improve, but to understand how to improve so they can become thoughtful, independent musicians over time.

Whether a student is preparing for youth orchestra, working on solo repertoire, learning the basics for the first time, or simply hoping to enjoy music more deeply, I aim to meet them where they are and help them grow steadily and joyfully.

I have over 10 years of teaching experience and have worked with a wide range of students in private lessons, chamber music settings, sectionals, and festival programs.

My work as a performer also deeply informs my teaching. As an active professional violist, I bring real-world experience from orchestral, chamber, and freelance performance into my lessons, helping students connect their technical work to expressive and confident playing.

Who I Teach

I welcome students all levels, from beginning and intermediate violists to more advanced students seeking support with auditions, orchestra repertoire, and solo literature.
